OEM VANOS Camshaft Center Bolt for MINI N-Series Engines
This OEM-style VANOS center bolt secures the VANOS camshaft adjuster to the camshaft on MINI N12, N14, N16, and N18 engines. The bolt is a torque-to-yield (TTY) fastener and must be replaced whenever it is removed.
Proper clamping force is critical for maintaining accurate camshaft timing and reliable VANOS operation. Reusing a stretched fastener can compromise timing system integrity and increase the risk of timing-related issues.
Whether you're replacing a timing chain, servicing VANOS components, installing camshafts, or rebuilding an engine, a new VANOS center bolt should always be installed during reassembly.
Why Replace the VANOS Center Bolt?

SneedSpeed Recommendation
Whenever servicing the timing system, replace all torque-to-yield hardware including VANOS center bolts, crankshaft bolt, timing chain tensioner, and related timing components. The cost of new hardware is insignificant compared to the labor required to access the timing system.
