Thank You for Your Order!

We appreciate you choosing a SneedSpeed Engine. Each engine is built to deliver maximum reliability, power, and longevity. To ensure proper lubrication, seating, and break-in, please follow the installation and break-in procedure below carefully.

Engine Installation & Break-In Procedure

  • Use 5W-40 conventional or semi-conventional engine oil for initial startup.
  • Install engine completely before adding fluids.
  • Remove coil packs and spin engine with the starter to prime the oil pump and internal passages.
  • Once oil reaches the top of the engine (visible under the valve cover), reinstall the coil packs.
  • Start the engine and allow it to idle briefly, then hold RPM at approximately 2500 for 15–30 seconds before returning to idle.
  • Let the engine reach full operating temperature, then shut down and inspect for leaks.

Test Drive & Break-In

  • Begin with a 3rd gear pull at 75% throttle from 2500 to 4000 RPM, then let the engine decelerate back down to 2500 RPM in gear.
  • If everything looks and sounds good, repeat with full throttle pulls at 2500–4500 RPM, 2500–5500 RPM, and 2500–6500 RPM — allowing the engine to pull back down each time.
  • After these pulls, drive normally for 5–10 minutes to help the engine cool evenly.
  • Return to the shop, inspect for leaks, and change oil if desired.
  • Your engine is now broken in and ready for use on track or street.
  • Change oil within 500 miles or before your first track day.

⚙️ Pro Tip: We recommend Motul 5W-40 8100 series for street applications and Motul 300V series for track use. Proper oil choice ensures ideal protection and performance for your build.
