Proper installation and torque procedures are critical to ensuring a perfect seal and long-term reliability. Please follow the steps and specifications below carefully.
Installation & Torque Specifications
- Clean all block and cylinder head threads using a thread chaser to remove debris or sealant residue.
- Lightly lubricate stud threads and washers with ARP Ultra-Torque or equivalent high-quality assembly lube.
- Install the studs finger-tight into the block — do not torque the studs into the block.
- Install the cylinder head and washers, then torque the nuts in three equal steps to the final specification.
- Final Torque Specification: M10 stud 70 ft-lbs, M8 stud 40ft-lbs, M8 bolt 35ft-lbs using lubricated threads, .
- Follow the factory MINI torque sequence pattern, tightening from the center outward in a spiral pattern.
- After first heat cycle, recheck torque to confirm all fasteners have seated properly.
